Katy Perry & John Mayer Quietly Make It A Wedding Weekend After SNL Performance!

katy perry john mayer wedding date

Sorry, guys, there's still no ring on her finger! But these two are still madly in love!!

We adored how John Mayer spent time in New York City to support Katy Perry during her big Saturday Night Live performance, but the two got even cuter!

Katy reportedly paid it forward to her honey and joined her main man at his brother's wedding this weekend where he was serving as best man!

Carl Mayer and Shera Adika wed this Sunday at Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club in New York with John and Katy happily there to celebrate the day of love.

And from what we hear, there was no cray cray wedding dramz at this event! An insider revealed:

"They were very polite and down-to-earth and didn’t want to take away from the bride and groom’s day. Katy stayed behind the scenes and politely turned down photos. It was a beautiful ceremony on the water."

More than that, Katy and John supposedly got out on the dance floor during the party! And we bet they cut a rug for sure!

Maybe Katy even broke out her whipped cream bra to entertain the other guests! LOLz!

'City of God –- 10 Years Later' Co-Director on Tracking Down the Stars of the Brazilian Hit (Q&A)

RIO DE JANEIRO – Ten years after the release of Fernando Meirelles’ Oscar nominated City of God, a new documentary explores the impact the film had on the lives of the actors as well as in the community.

City of God – 10 Years Later, directed by Cavi Borges and Luciano Vidigal shows what happened to the actors after their rises to stardom, reveals how much they got paid, and explores their current jobs, among other topics. While some of the stars were able to continue their acting careers, others ended up on an obscure paths or got involved with crime and drugs.

PHOTOS: 10 Hollywood Films Tweaked for International Release

The film’s festival showing was canceled due to protests outside the fest’s main theater, and will screen Saturday in an off-schedule premiere.

The doc includes interviews with actress Alice Braga, singer Seu Jorge, Alexandre Rodrigues, Leandro Firmino da Hora, Roberta Rodrigues and Thiago Martins among others.

According to Vidigal, the biggest challenge was discovering some of the talented actors were struggling to make a living. “I didn’t feel well having to shoot that, I was sad but I thought that people needed to see that,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter.

Borges also speaks with THR about the difficulties of making the film as well as the experience of following up with a story that changed the Brazilian cinema.

How did you feel about reviewing the legacy of the City of God while making the documentary 10 years later?

The making of City of God by Fernando and Katia took a long time. Almost one year rehearsing and a long time filming and editing as well. It also involved a lot of people. The actors alone totaled almost 200. For all that, many stories, memories and rumors arose when we decided to do our documentary 10 years later. Reviewing the film, hearing the stories and seeing all the actors and everything that the film has accomplished, we really can say it was a milestone for  Brazilian cinema. A special film that had a special cast, a special team, a special song, in other words, a very special piece of work.

STORY: Oscars: Eight Documentary Short Subjects Make the List

What were the major difficulties during the production of this documentary?

Our major difficulty was to find those actors today. Of the 200 actors who worked on the film, we only managed to find 50 of them. Each of them followed a different path and many of them aren’t even actors anymore. Another difficulty was the financial viability of our doc. We didn’t have that much time to make the movie and also we didn’t have enough money. It was an independent production where we basically counted on friends and partners. We got the sponsorship only near the end of the process. We had to use crowding funding and throw parties to raise money to finish the production of this film.

What were the most valuable experiences you had while making the film?

Borges: For me, each interview was a new life experience. I think that after these two years filming and making the film, we grew up a lot as human beings and realized how much art can be powerful and transformative. Our discussions, debates and analysis made us rethink the slums, our city and our country. Also, the family’s basis and structure is really important in the life of all of us.

Do you think the actors should have received any kind of assistance or guidance from the production of City of God after the end of the movie? Have they done something for them?

They actually received some assistance but can you imagine having to take care of 200 actors at the same time? When the movie was done, Fernando and Katia created along with the actors an audiovisual school called “Nós do Cinema” that today became “Cinema Nosso.” This organization allowed several actors to keep studying about films and they also could work in other functions besides acting. Some of them also worked in the TV series City of Men that was created after the success of the movie and participated in other productions by O2 Filmes (production company owned by Meirelles).

What sort of impact do you expect the documentary can cause in the society?

To make people and the government reflect on the difficulty of living art in Brazil. How art can transform an individual. But for this to happen, we need to create and develop a larger structure. Build schools, cultural and professional groups that drive young people to the right path. Show that the family and education are the basis of everything. And if we want a fair and democratic country we need to invest more in education and culture.

Relationships: Vegan Meets Carnivore: A Love Story | YourTango

vegan, carnivore, love story
"You can learn a lot about a person by looking at their grocery cart."

Despite vastly different diets, this couple whipped up a recipe for relationship bliss. You can too!

When we spew off our must-haves for the perfect mate—sense of humor, steady job, an encyclopedic knowledge of Breaking Bad—rarely do we talk about food. When was the last time one of your friends said she's looking for a guy who's tall, dark, handsome and knows five tasty ways to prepare Swiss chard?

But when it comes to eating habits and relationships, what ends up on the dinner table can be just as important as what goes down in the bedroom. In fact, as we pointed out last week in our story 7 Reasons to Date a Vegetarian, a third of omnivorous singles wouldn't even consider dating a non-meat eater. Pssh!

So, in a world dominated by carnivores, what's a bacon-free bachelor or bachelorette to do? Well, for the 7.3 million vegetarians in the US (according to the Vegetarian Times) there are a number of veggie-only dating sites. Among them are VeggieDate.org, VeggieFishing.com, VegetarianDating.com and EthicalSingles.com. That said, how boring the dating pool would be if we all stayed in our own grocery aisles?

 A Love Story

To figure out how two people on opposite sides of the dietary spectrum could ever come together, we chatted with New Yorker Kristin Jackson. While she's vegan, her boyfriend Jake is a full-fledged BBQ-lovin', steak-makin', meat-eating man. Kristin keeps a blog, My Fit Decision, where she chronicles her healthy lifestyle, including the his-and-hers meals she creates.

Here's what Kristin told us about how these two lovebirds make it work. To those 30 percent who don't think omni/veggie love is possible, take note!

Dropping the 'V Bomb'
That's 'V' as in vegetarian or vegan. For Kristin, who has been meat-free in some form since she was 13, there was no pre-vegan era in her relationship with Jake, who she started dating two years ago. So how did she first introduce her diet? "I tested the water on the first date," she says. "He asked where I wanted to go for dinner so I picked a vegan place. He was cool with it." Before dating Jake, Kristin had been on a couple dates with guys who weren’t as keen on her restaurant selection, and she knew right away that they weren't matches. "It's a good sign if a guy is open to it right off the bat. If he's not open to trying a meat-free meal on the first date when he's trying hard to impress you, then he's really not going to be up for it on the tenth date." she says.

Table for Two
When eating out, Kristin admits that she sometimes annoys Jake with her lengthy requests. "I'll pick something and tell the waiter to hold the chicken and the cheese and the egg, and Jake is like, "I don’t know her!’" she says. But for the most part, any hard feelings come from a place of concern. Kristin remembers one night out when she was stuck eating a plate of pickled cabbage for dinner because there weren't many meatless options. "When that happens, Jake doesn't get angry at me for not eating meat," she says. "Rather, he feels upset that I have to just sit there and watch him eat a plate full of food." Fortunately, though, experiences like that are few and far between because the couple keeps an eye on local menus, and they know the spots that suit them both. They've zeroed in on places like Mable's Smokehouse in Brooklyn, which serves both beef brisket and vegetarian sloppy Joes.

The Grocery Cart: The Window to the Soul
While other couples might take a trip down the frozen food aisle for granted, for Kristin and Jake it's a weekly bonding experience. "You can learn a lot about people when you watch what they put in their grocery carts," says Kristin. While she's more comfortable in the produce section than at the deli counter, the two choose to focus on what they have in common when they shop, like an interest in eating healthy. "Even though I don't eat meat, I'll still help Jake pick out chicken and come up with a healthy way to prepare it," she says. Their common interest in eating well is more the focus than the fact that she prefers tempeh to a t-bone.

The Couple That Dines Together, Does Fine Together
When Kristin and Jake eat together at home, whether at her place or his, they make a point to eat similar dishes, even though hers are meat-free. On her blog, Kristin details these dinners with "His Plate/Her Plate" posts. One week it's sweet potatoes for her, and mango jalapeno sausage for him, both served over brown rice and beans.  Another week it's a Caribbean theme, and though she's made jerk chicken for him and jerk cauliflower for herself, their meals look surprisingly similar. Making visually cohesive meals is important to the pair. Keep reading...
